27 goals in 5 opening games of FFB’s National U13 Girls Elite Championship

From Ruben Morales Iglesias: 27 goals were scored in the opening five games of the 2022 National U13 Girls Elite Championship organized by the Belize Football Federation (FFB) last Saturday. That’s an average of 5.4 per game.

Stann Creek beat Belmopan 2-1 at Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga. Jolene Aranda scored both goals for Stann Creek while Emely Rodriguez scored the only goal for Belmopan.

The Mid-South rolled over Toledo 5-0 at Victor Sanchez Union Field in Punta Gorda. After Amara Coe scored the opener, Rian Acal and Haylee Villanueva each converted a brace for the Mid-South.

Corozal beat Orange Walk 2-1 at People’s Stadium in Orange Walk with two goals from Yancy Chan. Ziany Santos scored for the home team.

Cayo beat Benque Viejo del Carmen 11-0 at the Edmund Marshalleck Stadium in Benque Viejo del Carmen. Aneeke Mesa hit the net five times. She was assisted by Jahxann Waight with braces and by Eva Chuc, Jemma August, Marley Garcia and Tiana Labriel with one each.

In the fifth opening game, Belize defeated San Pedro 3-2 at the MCC compound in Belize City. Oceanna Castillo, Maleah Bladen and Amina Burgess scored for Belize. Tamales McCauley and Teresita Diaz converted for the Islanders.

The 2022 National U13 Girls Elite Championship resumes on Saturday.
